Bypass) from I-40 to US 70 Business in Wake and Johnston Counties, State

Reference: Neuse River Buffer Authorization dated January 14, 2005 (WQC Project No.
041760)
The NC Division of Water Quality issued a Neuse Buffer Authorization for the above-mentioned
project dated January 14, 2005 and a subsequent modification dated April 11, 2006. NCDOT has
recently determined that additional riparian buffer impacts are required. Please find enclosed a
site map, a revised permit drawing, and an additional buffer impact summary table.
Section AB
Buffer Site AB 4A:
A field review of the project area was held between NCDOT and NCDWQ on October 10, 2007.
From the field review it was determined that the outlet ditch extending from the dry
detention/hazardous spill basin located right of station 45+70-L-, needed to be widened and
armored with rip rap due to erosion that had occurred at the site. As a result, approximately 102
feet of base ditch (approximately 5 to 10 feet wide) lined with class II rip rap from the outlet of
the dry detention/hazardous spill basin will be added to where it ties with the natural stream.
Also, a permanent drainage easement will be required (see permit drawing). These revisions
account for an additional 2,20_4.45 ft2 of riparian buffer impacts in Zone 1 and 1,462.98 ftz of
riparian buffer impacts in Zone 2. No additional mitigation is proposed since the impacts at eaca~i---
site are not equal to or exceed 0.3 ac or 1501inear ft.
