Per conversations with Ms. Jennifer Busam, the Town of Waynesville is late in responding to the
corresponding deadline set in the conditions of our previous NPDES permit due to a multitude of staff turnover.
Please accept this permit request to renew the above referenced permit number. Below is a summary of

Please note, no major changes have been made to the plant facility since last permit submittal; however, routine
maintenance/repairs have been made, including new flocculators, flash mix and basin concrete repairs.

Rapid mix of coagulant followed by conventional flocculation, sedimentation and filtration with
pre and post disinfection / pH adjustment.

facility:
Discharge by gravity flow of filter backwash and sedimentation wash water to sludge pond for
settling. Pond is dredged monthly during summer months with sludge transported by truck to
sanitary sewer.

Narrative Description of Sludge Management Plan
Filter backwash and sedimentation basin sludges are discharged to a lagoon for settling. For several days
monthly during warm weather, a dredge pumps the consolidated material from the lagoon bottom to tanker
trucks which transport the sludge to the municipal sewer system. The sludge is ultimately processed at the
Town of Waynesville's Wastewater Treatment Plant.
