Re: Alcoa Power Generating Inc. Yadkin Project (FERC No. 2197)
Tailwater Dissolved Oxygen Monitoring
Deaz Secretary Bose:
By letter dated October 16, 2007, Alcoa Power Generating Inc. (APGI) notified the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North Cazolina Division of Water Quality
(NCDWQ) of the need to temporarily remove the continuous dissolved oxygen monitor in the
Tuckertown tailrace due to extreme low water conditions, which made it unsafe to service the
monitor and damaged the monitor probe. APGI reinstalled the Tuckertown tailrace monitor on
November 2, 2007 because recent rainfall raised the water level in Narrows Reservoir (which
significantly influences the water levels in the Tuckertown tailrace).
By copy of this letter, APGI is also notifying NCDWQ of this situation. Please do not hesitate to
contact me at (704) 422-5606 or ~7ene.ellis(~~alcoa.com if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Gene Ellis
