Any floodplain area falling within the existing stream channel will be countersunk into the streambed with at least 6" of the class II stone sticking out above the bed. The new floodplain area along the western wall falls outside of the existing stream channel. Essentially we will have 40 linear feet of structure related bank hardening above what is already there plus the up and downstream floodplain construction. Honestly, the bed and banks have already been hardened a bit by mother nature. 2) The cover sheet does state that an off-site detour pipe is proposed. This is a typo. Please delete the word pipe. Please describe more precisely how this will be constructed. My interpretation of this is that rock will be placed in the existing channel. If so, please indicate the length of impact. Also, you may want to include the proposed floodplain on the drawings. 2. The cover sheet states that an off-site detour pipe is proposed. Please indicate the location and amount of impacts (temporary) associated with the off-site detour pipe. Also, you should include the proposed pipe on the drawings. 3. Please provide a photograph or two, of the existing stream/bridge. If you have any questions, please give me a call. Thanks. The existing bridge will be replaced with a 1@ 14'x4' Crownspan Bottomless Culvert. The proposed bottomless culvert and associated roadway improvements have been designed in a manner to minimize the increase in impervious surface area to the maximum extent possible. Toe protection with permanent soil reinforcement matting has been proposed at two locations (station 11+20 to 11+85 left and station 12+50 to 13+50 right). The toe protection minimizes the impact of the project by eliminating two large cut slopes that would be needed if new lateral ditches were installed. A drainage system consisting of and open end pipe, junction box, and drainage inlet has been proposed to convey the runoff from one of the toe protection areas to the stream. This drainage system was necessary to avoid impacting an existing slope.
