Carolina Water Service, Inc. of NC (CWSNC) is in receipt of the above -mentioned Notice of Deficiency dated
October 31st and provides additional information below.
CWSNC had a Daily Maximum BOD exceedance on September 17th, with a result of 7.9 mg/L. BOD samples
collected on September 181h & 191h were compliant with results of 2.4 mg/L and 4.7 mg/L, respectively. The samples on
the 181h and 191h were collected and compliant before notification of the non -compliant sample. The cause of the daily
exceedance was corrected by normal plant operations. An internal excursion investigation was conducted, and no
immediate cause found The Monthly BOD Average was also compliant with an average of 31.8 mg/L. No environmental
impact was noted from the daily exceedance.
