Mr. Sheasley,
I had a couple comments regarding the work plan for preparation of the CSA.
• The Groundwater screening section of the work plan mentions the contaminants of concern (COC) to
include chloride, total dissolved solids, and nitrate, but the Laboratory analysis section mentions "The soil
and groundwater samples will be analyzed for chlorides, total nitrate as nitrogen, and ammonia." Please
clarify.
No mention of background sampling. Groundwater at some sites may naturally contain constituents at
concentrations above the 2L Standards, therefore, it is important to assess the ambient groundwater
quality and distinguish it from groundwater potentially impacted by a site release.
No mention of a receptor survey. The CSA should identify all potential receptors and expected exposure
pathways (e.g., water supply wells, surface water bodies, subsurface structures, etc.)
I have attached the Guidelines for Remediation & Investigation of Soil, Groundwater-2020, which should be
helpful in preparation of the CSA and the deliverables expected.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Geoff
