Skvarla, Ill Governor Director Secretary March 28, 2013 Mr. Elton R Cafferata RECEIVED 2523 Nealwood Avenue Graham, NC 27253 APR I 0 2013 CENTRAL FILES • Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection DWQ/30G NPDES General Permit No. NCG550263 Alamance County Dear Mr. Cafferata: On March 27, 2013, Jenny Graznak of this office performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection on the wastewater treatment system at your property located at 2523 Nealwood Avenue in Alamance County, North Carolina. You hold General Permit # NCG550263 to discharge domestic wastewater from a single-family residence at this address under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). The effluent from your system discharges to an unnamed tributary to Big Alamance Creek in the Cape Fear River Basin. The system has two chlorination tubes, but no chlorine tablets were observed during the inspection. No discharge was observed from the effluent pipe, which is located down the street beyond your neighbor's yard. Should you ever detect a discharge from the pipe, permit text Part I Section A (attached to this report) specifies the limits and monitoring requirements for your permit. A Laboratory with North Carolina Wastewater Certification must perform the monitoring. The permit also requires that you conduct and document the following maintenance activities: ✓ Septic tanks shall be maintained at all times to prevent seepage of sewage ✓ Septic tanks will be checked at least yearly to determine if solids must be removed V Septic tanks shall be pumped out every 3-5 years ✓ Contents removed from septic tanks shall be disposed of at a location and in a manner compliant with all local and state regulations V Disinfection apparatus shall be inspected weekly.
