NPDES General Permit No. NCG550263
Alamance County
Dear Mr. Cafferata:
On March 27, 2013, Jenny Graznak of this office performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection on
the wastewater treatment system at your property located at 2523 Nealwood Avenue in Alamance
County, North Carolina. You hold General Permit # NCG550263 to discharge domestic wastewater
from a single-family residence at this address under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination
System (NPDES). The effluent from your system discharges to an unnamed tributary to Big
Alamance Creek in the Cape Fear River Basin.
The system has two chlorination tubes, but no chlorine tablets were observed during the inspection.
No discharge was observed from the effluent pipe, which is located down the street beyond your
neighbor's yard. Should you ever detect a discharge from the pipe, permit text Part I Section A
(attached to this report) specifies the limits and monitoring requirements for your permit. A
Laboratory with North Carolina Wastewater Certification must perform the monitoring. The permit
also requires that you conduct and document the following maintenance activities:
✓ Septic tanks shall be maintained at all times to prevent seepage of sewage
✓ Septic tanks will be checked at least yearly to determine if solids must be removed
V Septic tanks shall be pumped out every 3-5 years
✓ Contents removed from septic tanks shall be disposed of at a location and in a manner
compliant with all local and state regulations
V Disinfection apparatus shall be inspected weekly.
If you have any questions concerning this report, please contact Ms. Graznak at (336) 771-4960.
Sincerely,
jL .W. Corey Basinger
