I. Purpose
This report was prepared for the sole purpose of complying with North Carolina
Administrative Code Subchapter 02T Section .0300 - Sewer Extensions.
II. Description
Grimesland - 8 Lot Minor Subdivision is a proposed 8 lot minor residential
subdivision located on Chicod Street and Second Street in Grimesland, NC
27837. Grimesland - 8 Lot Minor Subdivision is located at the corner of Chicod
Street (SR 1777) and Second Street.
The proposed subdivision will provide vacuum sewer with individual sewer
services for wastewater disposal from the system owner, the Town of
Grimesland. Lots in the subdivision rely on individual water services for water
supply from the system owner the Town of Grimesland.
The proposed overall sewer collection system will include the following primary
elements:
Vacuum Sewer Pits - 2
Individual Sewer Services - 8
The proposed sewer collection system for lots 1-5 will consist of two vacuum
valve pits and two laterals connecting them to an existing vacuum main
located on Chicod Street. The laterals are to be bored under Chicod Street
and tapped into the main. The proposed sewer collection system for Lots 6-8
will consist of individual sewer services connecting to existing vacuum valve
pits on Second Street.
No other sewer collection systems are related to or impacted by this project.
III. Application

IV. Service Area
The proposed sewer collection system will serve a residential subdivision and is
not intended to serve adjacent properties. The distribution system is sized as to
provide adequate capacity to all lots within the subdivision. The proposed
facilities are designed with the intention of a 50-year service life.
V. Alternatives
There are no other alternatives to connecting to the Town of Grimesland sewer
system and constructing a sewer system as the soils have been deemed
unsuitable for septic systems.
VI. Financial Consideration
The project will be financed by the Developer and dedicated to the Town of
Grimesland upon completion.
The project is not eligible for financial assistance from the state.
VII. Sewer Demands
Section 18 of Session Law 2023-137 amends 15A NCAC 02T .0114(b) -
Wastewater Design Flow Rates and says the minimum volume of sewage from
each dwelling unit with a wastewater system serving two or more dwelling units
shall be 75 gallons/day/bedroom with a minimum dwelling unit flow rate of 75
gallons/day. Instantaneous demand can be calculated by multiplying the
average daily demand by a peak factor of 2.5. Average daily demand may
be computed as follows:
Bedrooms per Dwelling Unit = 4 (300 gallons/day/unit)
Average Daily Demand = 8 lots x 300 gallons/day
= 2,400 gallons/day (1.67 gpm)
Instantaneous Demand = Average Demand x Peak Factor
= 2,400 gallons/day x 2.5 (max daily factor)
= 6,000 gallons/day (4.17 gpm)

Vill. Infrastructure Improvements
This project will not require that any infrastructure improvements be made to
the Town of Grimesland sewer infrastructure or the Greenville Utilities WWTP.
IX. Construction Schedule
The project, as planned, is scheduled to begin construction November 1, 2024
pending all permits. The project is anticipated to be completed by February 1,
2025 pending inclement weather and any other unforeseen circumstances
which may cause delays.
X. Conclusion
Connection to the Town of Grimesland wastewater collection system is the
only feasible alternative available for this project. The wastewater system and
WWTP capacity is adequate to meet the anticipated sewer demand of the
project.
