Randolph County •
Dear Mr. Davis:
On July 20, 2006, Jenny Freeman of this office performed a General Permit Inspection on
the wastewater treatment system at the abovementioned address in Randolph County, North
Carolina. This type of inspection consists of two basic parts: a review of self-monitoring data,
and an on-site inspection of the facility and its discharge.
You hold a General Permit to discharge domestic wastewater from a single family
residence under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). You were
found to be in compliance with General Permit No. NCG550231. City of Salisbury
wastewater treatment staff performs the annual effluent testing per the requirements of the
permit. Records and documents are maintained according to permit. The effluent discharges.to
an unnamed tributary of Uwharrie River (Class WS-III) in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. All
system components appeared to be well maintained and functioning properly. This office
appreciates your efforts to maintain compliance with the General Permit. The following is a
reminder list of required maintenance activities:
- Septic tanks shall be maintained at all times to prevent seepage of sewage
- Septic tanks will be checked at least yearly to determine if solids must be removed
- Septic tanks shall be pumped out within 3-5 years of issuance date of the Permit•
- Contents removed from septic tanks shall be disposed of at a location and in a manner
compliant with all local and state regulations
- Surface sand filters, disinfection apparatus shall be inspected weekly
