John F. Grimes, Mayor Terry Green, Public Works and Utilities Director Chris McCorquodale, Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation that we received on July 17th, 2017. At this point the Town is unsure why or how the cadmium violation occurred. Siler City Wastewater Staff has collected samples throughout the collections system, including in and around industries and pump stations, in an effort to locate any observable source of cadmium. Presently, nine different locations have been sampled. However, no conclusions or leads have been identified as to where the resulting violation originated. Bryan T Thompson Town Manager PO Box 769 »311N Second Avenue Siler City, NC 27344-0769 As you are aware, cadmium will be difficult to trace and isolate due to the inconsistency of its appearance in our samples. Please advise if you have any thoughts of what other methods can and should be employed to address this situation. Additionally, please advise if you have any further questions or concerns as we continue to make efforts to resolve this matter.
