Enclosed in this letter is a photo log and accompanying description of maintenance performed at
the Sea Trail Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Also included is an updated map of the Sea
Trail Golf Resort with the Sea Trail WWTP.
Brunswick County would like to reiterate that the Sea Trail WWTP is the only remaining "package
plant" style of treatment facility owned and maintained by the County. Since acquiring this facility
from the now defunct South Brunswick Water and Sewer Authority (SBWASA) in 2004, numerous
improvements have been undertaken to the facility. As identified in our capital improvement plan
(CIP) and Wastewater Master Planning efforts, it has always been the intent that the Sea Trail
WWTP would one day be decommissioned.
Brunswick County is currently in the process of completing the PER for the Ocean Isle Beach (O113)
WWTP expansion. As stated in Brunswick County's December 7, 2023 response to NOV-2023-PC-
05691 it was anticipated that the wastewater flow from the Sea Trail WWTP would be transferred
to the expanded OIB WWTP. At this time, due to the lack of effluent disposal options associated
with the design and construction of the OIB WWTP, expansion has been tabled. However, the Sea
Trail WWTP is still scheduled to be decommissioned in fiscal year (FY) 2026 with flows being
diverted and treated at the existing OIB WWTP and the West Brunswick Regional Water
Reclamation Facility (WRF). The repairs and maintenance completed at the Sea Trail WWTP were
necessary to meet permit compliance, ensure staff safety, and maintain plant operation until FY
2026 decommissioning.

PHOTO LOG AND DESCRIPTION
Repairs were completed on May 23, 2024 and include:
• Fiberglass grating installed on plant 1's south clarifier walkway
• Air leaks repaired in both plant 1 and plant 2's main channel airways
• Air leaks repaired for both plant 1 and plant 2's diffuser valves/piping
• Repaired grating support at plant 2 influent basin
• Handrail replaced on southside of plant 2 influent basin at influent splitter box
• Various reinforcement welding repairs at handrail supports/walkways
