Inspection Summary:
Site visit of the 401 Sand Mine facility was conducted in response to submittal of NOI for coverage under NCG020000
General Permit for Mining Activities. Met with Jeremy Hunt, Mine Operator. Reviewed information provided on the NOI as wel
as the site map. Based on the facility's location, the nearest named receiving water would be the Cape Fear River. The
Sediment Basins with Outfatls 1 and 2 have not been developed yet, nor has mining been initiated.A general overview of the
NCG020000 permit conditions was provided. Regional office staff recommends proceeding with issuance of permit coverage
under NCG020000. This recommendation occurred on 8/28/2024.
