Dear Kenneth Barfield:
The Division of Water Resources (Division) received your sludge survey information on
September 24, 2024. With the survey results, you requested an extension of the sludge survey
requirement for the lagoon at the Ken Barfield Farm, Inc facility. Due to the amount of treatment
volume available, and the rate of sludge accumulation, the Division feels that an extension is not
appropriate for both lagoon #1 & lagoon #2 at this facility.
The next sludge survey for these lagoons at Ken Barfield Farm, Inc should be performed before
December 31, 2024. In addition, the sludge survey you submitted for lagoon #1 shows that the
sludge volume has reached greater than 50%of treatment volume and require you to submit sludge
reduction plan of action (Permit Condition III-22). Please retain this letter and keep it with your
farm records for reference.
