(HRP) offers these responses. HRP has provided an updated Figure 2, that includes an additional property (Parcel 0015008) owned by Chapel Road Properties, LLC. HRP also updated the sprayhead configuration on Figure 2. With respect to the pond and stream located on the Site, HRP considers the pond and stream to be fed via groundwater for the following reasons: • surface water samples collected by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality did not indicate results not indicating evidence of impact from the lagoons; • shallow depth to the water table noted in the site monitoring wells during sampling events; • there is no flow from waste lagoons, except for the water that is pumped during spraying; • the 1972 USGS Topographic map depicts the pond and associated stream prior to the construction of the two waste lagoons. In response to Section A.1.a of the letter, HRP evaluated if spray field changes at the facility still support the hydraulic loading permitted limit of 5,000 gallons per day. HRP reviewed the original spray field site plan prepared by Dewberry & Davis which was certified on August 7, 1984 and includes the following notes at the bottom of the document. • 5 sprinkler heads in each field; total flow = 36 GPM; • For average daily flow from plant (5000 Gal.), field must operate for 2 hours, 19 minutes; • Area of each field = 1 acre (approx.); Max applied hydraulic load = 1"/Acre/Week = 27,154 Gal.; H\Data-NC\C\OAPR-CHAPEL ROAD PROP TIES LLC\9683 KERBS CHAPEL RD,GMMVILLE NC\CHA311NWW - P—tRenewa1\WP\20240925 Hydraulic Loadng ]ustffiotpn doa • Each field east of lagoons to be irrigated for 1 week, then rested as flow is rotated to adjacent field; • Field No. 4 can only be irrigated for 4 days continuously due to area; the fifth day of irrigation must be shifted to east field; • Cover crop to be fescue (See Agronomist's Report for crop information and nutrient additions). The original spray field site plan indicated that Fields No. 1 through No. 3 each had five (5) sprinkler heads, whereas Field No. 4 had three (3) sprinkler heads. The current spray field site has four (4) sprinkler heads each in Field No. 1 through No. 3, and three (3) sprinkler heads in Field No. 4. As such, it can be reasonably deduced that Spray Field No. 4 is currently being operated as was originally designed (i.e., 5,000 gallons per day for up to 4 continuous days per week). However, we should consider that the areas of Spray Fields No. 1 through No. 3 have each been reduced by 20% since the original design and, as such, should also be limited to an irrigation schedule of 4 consecutive days per week. The following calculation supports the loading rate in each Field No. 1 through No. 3. Current max. hydraulic loading = 27,154 gal x 4 sprinklers (current) = 21,723 gal week 5 sprinklers (original) week gal 1 day days 21,723 x = 4.34 week 5,000 gal. limit week The original spray field site plan has been included as Attachment A. The current spray field site plan has been included as revised Figure 2. If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact HRP at (336) 782-9725.
