Impacts included rainfall at the 1,000-year storm level, with areas receiving up to 18-20 inches, with flooded roads and infrastructure. Staff was busy with storm response, so a decision was made to conduct a records review for this year's routine inspection. Records were provided and included: • Wastewater collection system overview map • Map indicating flow direction • Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) • Asset Management Plan • Sewer Use Ordinance • F.O.G. educational outreach program • Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Response & Reporting Standard Operating Procedure Brunswick County has recently taken ownership of this system from the City of Southport, with the new permit indicating this ownership change issued on July 28, 2024. Since this acquisition, the County has not received any complaints regarding the Southport collection system and there have been no SSOs, aside from surcharging manholes during PTC8. A Lucity work order system is in place to document weekly lift station checks and maintenance activities throughout the collection system. The Southport Collection System is in compliance with the permit WQCS00137. Please review the comment section of the inspection report for more details.
