The Project will consist of the development of a hardrock lithium mine at the existing Kings Mountain lithium compound, owned and operated by Albemarle U.S., Inc. ("Applicant"). The Project will include the construction of an open pit, rock storage facilities, a concentrator plant, access and haul roads, and associated stormwater management systems on 1,083 acres of previously disturbed, undisturbed, and developed land. Per the pre-application meeting with the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources on October 18, 2023, the release of stormwater and treated wastewater from the proposed Project can be authorized through the issuance of an NCG02 permit, as existing mine and stormwater permits are currently valid. The appropriate permit fee has been attached to this submittal. An electronic PDF version of the permit application package will also be provided for further distribution and review.
