NORTH CAROUNA Interim Director Environmental Qualify September 16, 2024 City of Marion Attn: Bob Boyette PO Drawer 700 Marion, NC 28752 Subject: NOI Application NCGNE1665 Corpening Creek WWTP Return#1356 McDowell County Dear Mr. Boyette: We received your application for an NPDES No Exposure Certification on February 12,2024.On September 11, 2024, Michael Smith and Chayden Shell with the Asheville Regional Office conducted a site visit to determine whether the facility was compliant with coverage under a Stormwater No Exposure Certification. Inspectors noted a discharge of biosolids from the WWTP that is exposed to stormwater inlets. Stormwater inlets without protection from biosolids mismanagement is a clear exposure issues that prevents this site from qualifying for a No Exposure Certification.Additional, inspectors noted stormwater exposed to vehicle and equipment maintenance is routed straight to a stormwater inlet. Therefore, it has been concluded that the industrial activity of this facility does not qualify for a No Exposure Certification. With this letter, your application is being returned to you.Your facility should continue coverage under COC NCG110102. Please visit our General Permits webpage for more information on General Permit NCG110000. Please contact Brittany Cook, the stormwater General Permit Coordinator, at 919-707-3648 or via email at Brittanv.Cook@deg.nc.aov for further guidance concerning general permit coverage.
