Present during the visit were Matthew Henry with Brunswick County and Bryan Lievre with NCDEQ. The purpose of the visit was to ascertain the progress of construction activities for the proposed wastewater treatment facility. Many subcontractors were present at the facility performing numerous activities, including: - Installing concrete footers for new headworks structure; - Installing metal rebar for walls of northern oxidation ditch, whereas the concrete footers and base had already been installed; and, - Working on access roads and groundwater lowering underdrain lines along the north, west and southwest sides of Infiltration Basin C. Contractors has already installed the northern clarifier base, the UV channel, the northern aerobic digester tank and the effluent pump station. The emergency generator has also been received and placed into position. After the groundwater lowering systems are installed the contractor will commence with the installation of Infiltration Basin C and proceed with groundwater lowers systems and Basins A & B. Items the system is currently having make minor modifications include elevation discrepancies with the level spreader for Basin C, whereas the rim is at 0.5 feet higher than the surrounding elevation. Also, the system is having to make some spot repairs to some of the grates as depicted on Plan Sheet D2 (far right lower corner).
