NC0020338 — Yadkinville WWTP Inspection Summary — July 26,2024
The permit became effective on March 1, 2020, and will expire on February 28, 2025. A permit
renewal application has been submitted on June 26, 2024.
The plant is permitted for a maximum monthly average of 2.5 MGD and treats a daily flow of .7 to .8
MGD.
The WWTP has an elaborate industrial pre-treatment program that regulates 4 significant industrial
users with one of them being a US EPA Catagorical Industrial User (metal finishing).
Preliminary treatment consists of a mechanical "Step" bar screen with a press, and an aerated grit
chamber.
Secondary treatment consists of a plug flow oxidation ditch with fine and coarse air diffusers, and a
secondary clarifier.
The WWTP uses chlorine gas for disinfection and sulfur dioxide for de -chlorination. A risk
management program is kept up to date for this process and is inspected regularly by the Division of
Air Quality.
The WWTP appeared to be well operated and maintained. No discrepancies were noted during the
inspection.
Mr. Trivett and his staff do a very good job with regards to keeping logbooks and records.
The October 2023, and the April 2024 eDMRs were spot checked with the results on the lab result
reports. No discrepancies were noted.
The standby generator was tested under load on April 17, 2024.
The effluent was very clear on the day of the inspection.
The WWTP discharges into North Deep Creek which is classified WS-IV waters in the Yadkin -Pee
Dee River Basin.
