Pinnix, PE, Engineering Services Director Brunswick County 75 Courthouse Drive, Building 1 Bolivia, NC 28422 Subject: Sewer Flow Reduction Approval Brunswick County - Sunset Commons (WQ0041655) aka Heartsease at Ocean Isle Beach Pool House and Pool Brunswick County Dear Mr. Pinnix: On August 19, 2024 the Division of Water Resources (Division) received a request for an adjusted daily sewage flow rate (flow reduction) that would apply to the subject previously permitted project to Brunswick County - Sunset Commons, which is also known as Heartsease at Ocean Isle Beach (WQ0041655) tributary flow to the Brunswick County wastewater collection and treatment system. Additional information was received on August 20, 2024. A daily design sewer flowrate of 1,500 gallons per day was originally utilized and permitted for the subject project pool house and pool. In accordance with 15A NCAC 02T .0114(f) (1&2), the Division has evaluated the request and based on the data submitted, the Division hereby approves for use by Brunswick County an adjusted daily sewage flow rate with the following conditions: The flow reduction is applicable to the subject project pool house and pool only tributary to the Brunswick County collection and wastewater treatment system. The minimum design sewer flow for the future project pool house and pool shall be 750 gallons per day. This flow reduction shall not apply to sewer extension applications and /or permits for any other project other than the subject project or other public or private organizations. Regardless of the adjusted design daily wastewater flow rate, at no time shall the wastewater flows exceed the capacity and effluent limits defined in the permit for the treatment facility. The granting of this flow reduction does not prohibit the Division from reopening, revoking, reissuing and /or modifying the flow reduction as allowed by the laws, rules and regulations contained in 15 NCAC 02T, NCGS 143-215.1, or as needed to address changes in State and/or Federal regulations with aspect to wastewater collection systems, protection of surface waters, and/or wastewater treatment.
