Wet Pond 1—River Falls Subdivision
Inspection Date: 9/13/2023
Inspection Summary:
1. Ground coverage over majority of SCM is acceptable fescue grass. Bare soil spots observed
around perimeter of SCM.
2. Wetland plantings in littoral shelf are present. Woody and Invasive wetland plants are also
present in littoral shelf and around perimeter.
3. The water surface of SCM was covered in algae/duckweed.
4. Inlet pipe/FES and energy dissipator are satisfactory.
5. Outlet riser is structurally sound. Water quality/drawdown orifice was not visible due to
excessive vegetation. Orifice was visible on the inside of riser.
6. The water quality orifice was not flowing but the water level appeared to be at the normal pool
elevation. Significant rainfall occurred 4-5 days prior.
7. Minor bare soil spots were observed on dam embankment.
8. Emergency spillway is satisfactory.
9. Outlet pipe/FES and energy dissipator are satisfactory.
Required Maintenance & Repairs:
1. Remove woody and invasive vegetation around perimeter of pond.
2. Treat duckweed/algae on surface of water.
3. Remove vegetation around drawdown orifice so the condition can be inspected.
Recommended Maintenance & Repairs
1. Establish ground cover in bare soil spots around perimeter of SCM and on dam embankment.
2. Continue annual maintenance including ground cover establishment.

riser(see photos).

8. Emergency spillway is satisfactory.

Landscaper needs to remove cattails in the forebay and establish grass. To remove cattails landscaper
needs to apply herbicide on leaves/reeds for removal. Cutting or pulling the cattails will not permanently remove them.

Re: A&A Foods, LLC (Hillbilly's BBQ), BMP Sand Filter, Lowell, NC.
I have completed a final "as-built"inspection for the BMP Sand Filter at A&A Foods, LLC site in Lowell,
NC. The inspection included my observation of maintenance performed on the sand filter, outlet
structure, orifice controls, emergency and secondary spillways and outlet pipe of the pond. The pond
has been clean of all debris and trash, mowed and weeded and the old sand media removed and
replaced with 12"of new sand media. The shape,size and volume of the pond are still the same as the
original construction of the BMP, and the pond is in operable condition.
Having inspected the "As-Built" BMP Sand Filter and completing the"As-Built" BMP modeling, I certify
that the BMP Sand Filter is adequate and meets the requirements of the GCNR Storm Water Ordinance,
City o Lowell Stormwater Ordinance and the NC Water Quality BMP Sand Filter requirements.

Re: A&A Foods, LLC(Hillbilly's BBQ), BMP Sand Filter, Lowell, NC.
I have completed a final "as-built"inspection for the BMP Sand Filter at A&A Foods, LLC site in Lowell,
NC. The inspection included my observation of maintenance performed on the sand filter, outlet
structure, orifice controls,emergency and secondary spillways and outlet pipe of the pond. The pond
has been clean of all debris and trash, mowed and weeded and the old sand media removed and
replaced with 12"of new sand media. The shape, size and volume of the pond are still the same as the
original construction of the BMP, and the pond is in operable condition.
Having inspected the "As-Built" BMP Sand Filter and completing the"As-Built" BMP modeling, I certify
that the BMP Sand Filter is adequate and meets the requirements of the GCNR Storm Water Ordinance,
City o Lowell Stormwater Ordinance and the NC Water Quality BMP Sand Filter requirements.

Sand Filter Operation and Maintenance Agreement
I will keep a maintenance record on this BMP. This maintenance record will be kept in a log in a
known set location. Any deficient BMP elements noted in the inspection will be corrected,repaired or
replaced immediately. These deficiencies can affect the integrity of structures,safety of the public,and
the removal efficiency of the BMP.
Important maintenance procedures:
— The drainage area will be carefully managed to reduce the sediment load to the sand filter.
— The sedimentation chamber or forebay will be cleaned out whenever sediment depth exceeds
six inches.
— Once a year,sand media will be skimmed.
— The sand filter media will be replaced whenever it fails to function properly after maintenance.
The sand filter will be inspected quarterly and within 24 hours after every storm event greater than
1.0 inches (or 1.5 inches if in a Coastal County). Records of operation and maintenance will be kept in
a known set location and will be available upon request.
Inspection activities shall be perfortned as'follows. Any problems that are found shall be repaired
immediately.

Erosion has occurred. Provide additional erosion protection such
as reinforced turf matting or riprap if

Weeds are present. Remove the weeds,preferably by hand. If
a pesticide is used,wipe it on the plants
rather than spraying.

Minor erosion noted below 6-inch drain at upstream end of basin. Recommend
