Traveling north from Salisbury on Old Mocksville Rd, turn right on Hannah Ferry Rd and travel the overhead electrical right of
way. The project site will be to the right along the Yadkin River. A new driveway off Hannah Ferry Rd will be provided parallel to
the right of way.

7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or
why it is necessary):
A new Raw Water Intake & Pump Station is needed to protect City of Salisbury and Rowan County's water supply. In order to
withdraw water from the river, the new facility must be constructed on the bank of the river, which will disturb and destabilize the
river bank in the vicinity of the construction. To stabilize the shoreline and protect it from erosion, a gabion basket system is
proposed to allow sediment to settle into the voids between stones and for vegetation to be re-established.

Trees will be removed to facilitate construction of the intake facilities. Following completion of construction, vegetation will be re-
established in temporarily disturbed areas and along the river bank.

application fee is as follows (pursuant to G.S. 143-215.3D):
