NOTICE OF DISCHARGE OF UNTREATED WASTEWATER
Stanly County Utilities (SCU) experienced a bypass/wastewater spill on Thursday,
August 8, 2024 from a heavy rain event. The Badin WWTP estimated 75,600 gals of
storm water/untreated wastewater spilled.
SCU responded to the spill and performed necessary cleanup and treatment as
appropriate. NCDWQ was notified on Friday, August 9, 2024 of the incident and is
reviewing the matter. No fish kill or other environmental damage was reported as a
result of the spill.
