RE: Notice of Violation
Tracking Number: NOV-2024-DV-0307
Sanitary Sewer Overflows- June 2024
Collection System Permit No. WQCS00021
Wilson Collection System
Wilson County
Ms. Manuel,
Incident # 202401099-On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, the water
infrastructure department became aware of a sanitary sewer overflow at 606 Trinity Drive West, Wilson,
NC. The cause of the overflow was grease. Crews were dispatched, and the overflow stopped within 2
hours. Manholes and sewer lines in the area were flushed and vacuumed using a combo truck. The area
affected was cleaned and storm drains in the area were cleaned using a combo truck as well.
The City of Wilson distributes FOG materials to residents biannually to educate the public on what
should not be introduced into the sewer system. In addition, the water infrastructure also distributes
door hangers in areas where grease is an ongoing issue. Crews periodically monitor this area for other
issues and perform maintenance as needed.
An estimated 600 gallons reached surface waters.
I can be reached at (252) 296-3404 with further questions.
Sincerely,
L. Aaron Bailey
Division and Maintenance Superintendent
