Notice of Extended Public Comment Period and Public Hearing on Intent to Issue NPDES Wastewater Permits

Feldspar, Schoolhouse,The Feldspar Corporation, Crystal, and Red Hill facilities. The North Carolina
Environmental Management Commission proposes to issue a NPDES wastewater discharge permit to the person(s)
listed below. Written comments regarding the proposed permits will be accepted until May 3,2019. Please mail
comments and/or information requests to DWR at the above address. Interested persons may visit the DWR at 512
N.Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC to review information on file. Additional information on NPDES permits and this
notice may be found on our website: http://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/water-resources/water-resources-
permits/wastewater-branch/npdes-wastewater/public-notices,or by calling(919) 707-3601.The Quartz Corp USA
has applied for renewal of permits NC0000353 and NC0000400 for the K-T Feldspar and The Feldspar Corporation
facilities in Mitchell County,and Sibelco NA has applied for renewal of permits NC0000175, NC0000361,
NC0084620, & NCO084620 for the Quartz,Schoolhouse, Crystal,and Red Hill facilities in Mitchell and Avery
Counties.These permitted discharges are treated ore mining process wastewater to the North Toe River in the
