DWQ has received and reviewed the "Wetland Mitigation Plan: Barra Farms Cape Fear Regional
Mitigation Bank in Cumberland County, North Carolina: Phase II." In general, DWQ is pleased
with the plan and has only a few comments to offer.
1. The mitigation acreage that is provided in the text, Table 2, Figure 10, and Figure 13
al-e not consistent. It appears that the acreage iri`~the text and in Table 2 correspond
correctly with each other. Figures 10 and 13 need to be edited to show the correct
mitigation acreage.
2. Herbaceous vegetation information should be provided for the vegetation plots. This
information should include the dominant herbaceous species present and an estimated
total percent cover of the vegetation and of the bare ground within the plot.
3. "Qualitative observations" (p. 27) of the site should include, but axe not limited to,
general hydrology observations, health of the vegetation, dominant herbaceous
vegetation species, percentage of bare ground, areas of the site that are performing
exceptionally well, trouble areas on the site, etc.
