Sanitary Sewer System Narrative
Bolivia Height Subdivision Development
Bolivia, Brunswick County, NC
Site Location and Description
The purpose of this project is to construct a single-family residential development known as Bolivia
Heights, which is within the Town of Bolivia. Bolivia's water and sewer is provided by Brunswick
County who will be the utility provider for this project. The project consists of 83 single family
homes and was originally platted in 1901. The roadways as proposed following platted Right of
Ways from 1901 but were never constructed. To make the project work via the current
regulations, the development was reduced from 119 lots as platted in 1901 to 83 lots today. The
project will connect to US-17 Business (SR-1167) via four entrances. The property in which this
project is included is owned by 35 North Land Holding, LLC.
The project drains to the Middle Swamp (C;Sw), which is within the Lumber River Basin (HUC
0304020801).
Currently the site is mostly woodlands with a few open areas consisting of bushes and grasses.
The surrounding area includes wooden areas and residential to the north, and west, Galloway Road
to the south, and US-17 Business to the east.
Sewer Design
The project includes gravity sewer, a pump station and forcemain, which will all be owned and
maintained by Brunswick CmntT.
• The gravity sewer system includes the design and construction of approximately 3,495 LF
of 8-inch gravity sewer that will discharge into a proposed manhole that discharges directly
to the pump station. Sewer flow associated with the project totals 23,240 gpd. Do note
that Brunswick County has an approved flow reduction.
• The pump station includes 120 gpm pumps with 201 TDH and approximately 125 LF of 4-
inch pressure force main. There is no additional sewer flow associated with the pump
station as it is designed for this project's flow only.
Only a small portion of the project is located within the 100-year flood plain. No gravity sewer,
manholes or the pump station are located within the flood plain. There are wetlands onsite and
impacts are proposed. We are in the process of pursuing an Individual Permit for this project, once
obtained we will send you a copy.
Finally, there are 6 proposed gravity sewer manhole is within 50 feet of wetlands and they will be
constructed to meet the draft wetland separation policy.
