Enclosed, please find a report summarizing the actions taken and outcomes to present to achieve compliance with
the Copper limits at outfall 001 for the Town of Ramseur Wastewater Treatment Plant. The report is being
provided in order to meet the NPDES permit requirement of Part I,A.(4.) Schedule of Compliance for Copper
Limitations. The Town has already achieved compliance with the permit requirements.

Compliance with NPDES Permit Copper Limit

1) Background / Requirement
The Town of Ramseur received a renewal of NPDES Wastewater Plant discharge permit number NC0026565,
effective May 1, 2022.The renewed permit contained new and changed requirements, including a Total Copper
limit with a compliance schedule, Part 1,Section A (4), SCHEDULE OF COMPLAINCE FOR COPPER LIMITATIONS.
This report is being provided to the North Carolina Division of Water Resources in response to item 3 of the
compliance schedule.
2) Summary of Actions Taken to Achieve Compliance with the Copper Limit
The Town of Ramseur was using an operating procedure for treatment of algae in the lagoon.The treatment
used was cupric sulfate.The use of cupric sulfate lead to the effluent having high levels of copper.This operating
procedure is no longer used at the plant.As a result,the effluent discharge has been compliant with the copper
limit since at least the beginning of 2022,with an average of 0.014 mg/L, and a maximum of 0.024 mg/L.
