9. PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project site is located 14 Shore Drive, adjacent to Motts Channel, in Wrightsville Beach, New Hanover
County. To get to the site from Wilmington take US Hwy 74/76 to Wrightsville Beach. Travel across the
drawbridge and keep to the right. Take a right onto Island Drive. Take a right onto Shore Drive. The property is
14 Shore Drive. The property is adjacent to Motts Channel on the west and Shore Drive to the east. The property
is adjacent to residential properties on the north and south sides. The current elevation of the property is
approximately 6' above normal low water (NLW). The property is approximately 14,000 ft.2 in size. There is a
residential structure on the property.The highground vegetation on the property consists mainly of lawn grasses
and ornamental plants. There are no coastal wetlands on site. The property has approximately 1401inear feet of
shoreline that has been stabilized with rip-rap. There is an existing deck measuring approximately 34' in width
and 31' in length that accesses an oddly shaped floating dock that is approximately 472 ft.2. There are also 4
piling clusters that are located parallel to the shoreline and located on the southern side of the floating dock. The
existing docking facility is designed to moor 4 vessels.
The Town of Wrightsville Beach Land Use Plan classifies the upland areas of this project as Developed. The
waters of the project site are classified as SB by the NC Division of Water Quality. The NC Division of Marine
Fisheries has NOT designated this area of Motts Channel as a Primary Nursery Area, and the waters adjacent
to the proposed project are closed to the harvesting of shellfish.
PROPOSED PROJECT:
The applicant is proposing to replace the existing floating dock in its current location and exact shape and size.
10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
The proposed replacement of an existing floating dock shall continue to incorporate approximately 472 ft.z of
open water.
