Dee Freeman Governor Director Secretary September 28, 2012 RECEIVED Mr. Robert Schauer OCT 0 5 2012 3009 Baptist Rd CENTRAL FILES Durham, NC 27703 DWQIBOG Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Single Family Wastewater Treatment System Permit No. NCG550193 Durham County Dear Mr. Schauer: On 04/24/2012, Autumn Romanski, inspector from the Raleigh Regional Office dropped off NCG550000 Permit information at the mailbox/driveway entrance of the above address. On 08/10/2012 the inspector visited your single-family residence (SFR) wastewater treatment system to evaluate compliance with the above permit to discharge wastewater. Your time to accommodate the on-site visit was greatly appreciated. The checked boxes below show what conditions were noted for this inspection: In compliance: You are reminded to regularly maintain the chlorine disinfection and dechlorination systems, have the effluent sampled once a year, and have the septic tank pumped out every 3 to 5 years. Your good record of operation and meeting the permit requirements is highly commended. The effluent that is discharged from your system must be analyzed once each year. See Part I(A) of your permit about his requirement. A list of NC certified laboratories that provide this service was provided during the inspection. Please make arrangements for sampling to be carried out, if the system discharges adequate flow under normal usage that would produce a representative sample and submit results to this office within 30 days after the sampling has been completed. If you have questions or comments about this inspection or the requirements please contact Autumn Romanski at 919-791-4255. Sincerely, i-;a/21-1, 1Y-314 - S. An inspection was scheduled and conducted on August 10, 2012. The permittee was compliant with the requirements of the permit the day of the inspection with the exception of sampling. Some discharge was observed the day of the inspection, but the discharge was not enough to take a representative sample. It may prove difficult to get a respresentative sample at this site(only 2 in household -low water usage), and if the water was left running in order to have adequate flow for sampling it would also not neccesarilybe a representative sample. P P P 9 The sampling challenge was discussed with the permittee-who indicated he would contact a field sampling service to inquire about the possibility of discharge sampling. The system was in good condition and appeared to be working well, with no odors, soggy soils, or any other signs of treatment issues. Permit information and request for permittee to call the RRO was left at the mailbox.
