MOORESVILLE PET-j*"',L QFrICE NOV Response Incident Number 202400419 The SSO that occurred on Feb. 5th 2024 was the result of a grease cap in the wetwell that had moved underneath the floats, as the water level rose the float did not turn up as it should've. The grease cap acted as a bench for the float as the float just rested on the cap as the water continued to rise. A town crew was onsite within 5 minutes of the alert. Pumps were set to "hand" and pumped the station down. The crew spend the next hour removing the grease cap with hand tools. This station is cleaned several times throughout the year and its first of the year cleaning was scheduled on Friday February 2nd 2024. As we moved our brand new $326,000 combo vac truck into position to clean the station it would not operate so the cleaning was postponed until the next week via hand tools, unfortunately the SSO occurred the Monday morning on the 5th before crews could arrive to manually clean the station. The spill was contained and cleaned of debris and lime was applied. Our one and only new combo vac truck spent one month in Monroe, NC at the Joe Johnson Service Center and was down another week after that as technicians searched for the answer as to why the truck continued to send alarm codes, disabling the truck altogether. Eventually they replaced a CAN-BUS wiring harness. The truck is supposed to go back into to service this week, March 19th 2024. We hope this fix will allow our crew to continue their work uninterrupted while they maintain the towns collection system. Thank You, Luke Robinette CS ORC The Town of Taylorsville does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability in employment or the provision of services.
