Dear Mr. Braswell:
The self-reported Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) 5-Day Report submitted by City of Belmont indicates violations
of permit conditions stipulated in the subject permit and North Carolina G.S. 143-215.1. Violations include failing to
effectively manage, maintain, and operate the subject collection system so that there is no SSO to the land or
surface waters and making an outlet to waters of the State for purposes of G.S. 143-215.1(a)(1), for which a
permit is required.

Dear Mr. Pitner,
The City of Belmont is in receipt of the above NOV and as required by your letter, our response to the violations
are as follows:
Incident#2020400599 -This overflow incident at 1010 Palisades Cir. was the result of grease from an upstream
apartment complex.
On behalf of the City of Belmont, city crews responded to the overflow within 30 minutes of the call. The City
Staff jetted the sewer main with a Jet Truck to remove the grease. Once we were aware of the grease, we called
our Pre-treatment Coordinator to educate the office staff of the apartment complex and for their staff to educate
the residents of the apartment complex, also we have a letter going out twice a year to all residents about grease.
