Notification of Benchmark Exceedance:
Description: Notification to DEMLR of single benchmark exceedance for quantitative monitoring during the 2nd Quarter
sampling event on 6/27/2024. Sampling results were received on 7/9/24.
Facility information: Shurtape Technologies—Stony Point Plant(8510 Highway 90 East, Stony Point, NC 28678)
Permit No. NCG050036
Outfall and benchmark parameter for exceedance: Outfalls 1, 2, 4 and 5 for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)was
detected at 234, 216, 139 and 392 mg/L respectively, versus a benchmark of 120 mg/L.
Response:The facility is following the Tier One response for Outfalls 1, 2, 4 and 5 to identify and address the source of
the exceedance for COD.
