Subject: Approved Plan Revision
Oak Island Boat Access
Stormwater Project No. SW8 890108
Brunswick County
Dear Mr. Covington:
On March 23, 2009, the Wilmington Regional Office received a plan revision for Stormwater
Management Permit Number SW8 890108. The revisions include changes to the layout of the
previously permitted impervious areas, resulting in a net reduction of 6,310 square feet of built-
upon area. The new permitted amount of built-upon area at the site is 101,736 square feet. In
addition, 1 more stormwater detention area is proposed. The original 1989 Certification of
Compliance for the boat ramp expansion area included a BMP that consisted of a grassed
collection swale ending in a course sand infiltration area to treat the 0.9 acre expansion area.
The new added BMP is a similar type of system.
It has been determined that a formal permit modification is not required for the proposed
changes. We are forwarding you an approved copy of the revised plans for your files. Please
replace the old approved plan sheet with the new ones, attached.
Please be aware that all terms and conditions of the Certification of Compliance with
Stormwater Regulations, the permit, issued on February 14, 1989, remain in full force and
effect. A copy of that old permit is attached for your convenience. Please also understand
that the approval of this revision to the approved plans for the subject State Stormwater
Permit is granted on a case-by-case basis. Any other changes to this project must be
approved through this Office prior to construction and may require a permit modification.
The issuance of this plan revision does not preclude the permittee from complying with all
other local, state or federal statutes, rules, regulations or ordinances which may have
jurisdiction over the proposed activity, and obtaining those permits or approvals prior to
construction.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to call me at (910) 796-
7215.
Sincerely,
Linda Lewis
