Each of her lots has a septic tank-subsurface sandfilter system and both lots have mobile homes on them. Adjacent to Ms. Rhodes' property are Lots 6A-3 and 6A-4 . Both of these lots have permits for septic tank - NPDES Permit Staff Report Version 10/92 Page 3 subsurface sandfilter discharges. (Lot 6A-3 , NC0050733 and Lot 6A-4, NC0050741) . Lot 6A-4 has a discharge on the north side of Mill Creek. Lots 6A-1, 6A-2 , and 6A-3 apparently discharge via a common effluent discharge pipe into Mill Creek on the south side. Ms. Rhodes said neither of her lots have chlorination, but she said Lot 6A-3 does have chlorination. No chlorine tubes were seen by the writer on Lot 6A-3 , but the backyard was fenced and the writer did not cross the fence to take a close look. (Dog inside fence) . The effluent discharge into the streArwas dark and there was a strong smell commonly observed from septic tank discharges. It was apparent the effluent was of relatively poor quality, but it could not be determined the effectiveness of either of the three (3) systems. It is recommended the permit be renewed - chlorination should be required on each of the three systems. ///C14 4.4 9'26) a 2, Signature of report preparer Water Quality Regional Supervisor Date NPDES Permit Staff Report Version 10/92 Page 4 A.
