Water Plant Wastewater Treatment
Alexander County
Dear Mr. Schneider:
The final plans and specifications for the subject project have been reviewed
and found to be satisfactory. Authorization is hereby granted for the construction
of a 4,000 GPD water plant wastewater treatment facility to include a 34,000 gallon
settling basin with baffles and a land application site for disposal of waste alum
sludge with the following conditions:
1. The placement of alum sludge on the sediment
disposal area shall not result in any contamination
of the surface and/or ground waters of the State.
2. The dried alum sludge shall be removed from the
sediment disposal area within eight (8) months of
date of placement.
3. At no time shall the dried sludge bed exceed a
depth of 6-inches.
4. Once the dried sludge is removed from the disposal area,
the soil shall be dished to promote percolation.
5. At no time shall the liquid depth in the disposal area
exceed the confinement walls of the area.
6. Any monitoring deemed necessary by the Division of
Environmental Management to insure surface and ground-
water protection will be established and an acceptable
sampling reporting schedule shall be hallowed.
This Authorization to Construct shall be subject to revocation unless the
wastewater treatment facilities are constructed in accordance with the conditions
and limitations specified in Permit No. NC003486O.
Also, enclosed is a copy of WPC Form #50 "Cost of Wastewater Treatment Works."
This form is to be completed and returned to this office within thirty (30) days
after the project is completed.
