Dear Mr. Roach:
The Division has reviewed your request received November 13, 2013 for a permit
modification to operate a modified treatment system consisting of a second air stripper system
and controls, and as an alternative to utilize only the air stripper process to comply with the
existing requirements and conditions for the permitted discharge under NC0088226. The
Division approves your request but emphasizes the air stripper process only removes volatile
solvents. Additional treatment modifications may be required in the future.
Since the modification to your permit is primarily narrative and there are no changes to
the permit effluent requirements then this modification approval letter is the only document the
Division will issue at this time. Please attach this letter to your permit to keep your permit up to
date. We request you notify the Mooresville Regional Office [phone] during normal
business hours upon completion of the treatment modifications. The necessary changes to the
permit narrative will be made at the next renewal.
Please take notice that this permit is not transferable. This permit does not affect the
legal requirement to obtain other permits which may be required by the Division of Water
Resources or permits required by the Division of Land Resources, Coastal Area Management
Act or any other Federal or Local government permit that may be required.
