I designed a letter and an authorization form to be delivered to the seven properties that had private wells located just out of the Town limits but also border the Town of Seaboard's Wastewater Treatment Plant and spray fields. The letter was reviewed by the Board of Commissioners at the January 9, 2024 Board meeting and approved in a Special Called Meeting on January 16, 2024. 1 hand delivered the letters on January 22, 2024 and only received one response on February 13, 2024 that agreed to have their well tested by the Town. Since no one else had responded I mailed a letter to each property owner at the address listed by the Northampton County Tax Department on February 19, 2024. 1 received one response on February 21, 2024 indicating that he did not want his well to be tested. I have not heard anything else from any other property owner as of today, March 26, 2024. Please find attached the letter and signed authorization forms from the two property owners that I have been in touch with since this process began. I will ask Jeffrey Long, ORC to order the appropriate samples for the one property that wishes that we test their well and the Town's water well located on Peanut Market Road. Once the samples are analyzed by Waypoint I will provide you the results. Thank you for your continued assistance. Due to the fact that your property is located near the Town of Seaboard's Wastewater Treatment Facility, the State has required that the Seaboard Water and Sewer Department take samples directly from your water well to test for any contamination. These measures are in an effort to protect the Town of Seaboard's water well located on Farmer Peanut Market Road and your privately -owned water well. If you permit us, we will take these samples 3 to 4 times per year from your well for testing. We need to determine if you agree for us to come onto your property to take the samples from your well. We will also need for you to be able to show or tell us where your well is located so that we can verify that the samples have come from your well. Please contact me, Christine Bass, Public Works Director for the Town of Seaboard as soon as possible, so that I can meet with you on your property promptly and be able to make sure that the sampling kits are ordered in a timely manner.
