1. General Information
a. The Operator in Responsible Charge is Bernard C. Hall IV. I may be reached at (252)
223-4418. Please contact me if you have any questions about this report or need further
information.
b. Permit Numbers: The Town of Newport operates the wastewater treatment system under
the following permits:
i. NPDES#NC0021555
ii. Land Application WQ#0008349
iii. Collections System WQCS#000177
c. The Town of Newport has a wastewater collection system that consists of about 26.2
miles gravity sewer and 4.7 miles of sewer force main pipeline; nine duplex lift stations;
and a 1.2 MGD wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater treatment plant uses the
Oxidation Ditch method of treatment. The treatment plant consistently meets our NPDES
permit limits. The bio solids produced by the treatment process are recycled onto
farmland as fertilizer under permit number WQ 0008349.
2. Performance
List of permit violations:
i. Had one Violation, a fecal coliform violation on 4-8-24, violation no. NOV-2023-
LV-0650, Permit no. NC0021555, 2023-2024 Fiscal Year
3. Bio solids Disposal: There were no permit violations in our bio solids disposal program in 2023-
2024. We have permit farm site in Craven County.
4. Notification. This report has been made available to the citizens of the Town of Newport by the
following means and methods:
a. Copies of this report are available at Town Hall, and will be posted on the bulletin board.
b. This report shall be placed on the Town of Newport Web Site.
c. There will be a Notification Customer water bill.
5. Certification: I certify under penalty of law that this report is complete and accurate to the best of
my knowledge. I further certify that this report has been made available to the users or customers
f the Town of Newport and that those users have been notified of its availability.
