FACILITY SUMMARY
Brunswick County Board of Education operates a 100%domestic wastewater treatment plant for an
elementary school that serves an estimated 475 staff and students. The Waccamaw Elementary
School WWTP is a minor facility(flow< 1 MGD)with a design capacity and permitted wastewater
discharge of 0.057 MGD. The WWTP was originally permitted in May 1982. This facility utilizes the
following treatment components:
• Multiple septic tanks(5)
• 1,000-gallon grease trap
• 10,000-gallon dosing tank with dual dosing pumps
• 3,000-gallon Quadplex effluent tank
• Quadplex ultraviolet disinfection
• Flow meter
RENEWAL SUMMARY
This renewal contains the following changes:
• Added the facility grade to Part I. Section A. (1).
• Updated Section A. (3)to reflect current federal requirements for Electronic Reporting of
Discharge Monitoring Reports.
• Updated Map
COMPLIANCE HISTORY
Waccamaw Elementary School WWTP has had 3 enforcements on record for limit violations during the
last period. The facility has been issued 6 NOVs for limit violations since the permit last permit was
issued in July 2020. Most recent inspection(April 2019) showed the facility to be compliant.
