NCG020000 Vulcan Materials Company, LLC(Vulcan) is submitting notification within the two weeks of receipt (January 22, 2024) of analytical results indicating an exceedance of a benchmark value as outlined in Part F Table 2 and Section F-5. In this case our Outfall 003 turbidity analysis indicated a result of 84.2 NTLI. Vulcan is in the process of implementing the Tier One response requirements for turbidity exceedance, as detailed in Part F,Table 5 of General Permit No. NCG020000. On January 24, 2024, Chandler Wooten of Vulcan and I attempted to identify and evaluate the possible causes of the benchmark exceedance from the sample taken on January 9, 2024. From this evaluation,we believe that the source of the higher turbidity may have been the result of material build up within the basin area. Vulcan will schedule the basin to be maintained by removing accumulated leaf litter, debris, and sediment and adding clean filter stone to the spillway. The facility plans to take another sample during the next qualified storm event to assess the effectiveness of our corrective actions. Documentation of all responses and corrective actions performed in accordance with the Tier One requirements for turbidity will be maintained with the facility's Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.
