Subject: City of Mebane Water Supply Watershed Ordinance and Map Changes
Mr. Clark,
The City of Mebane recently approved amendments to the Mebane Unified Development Ordinance(UDO)
to allow for local changes to the water supply watershed based upon better and more accurate data. This
revision is attached as adopted by the Mebane City Council on June 3, 2024. The revision is outlined in our
Stormwater Engineer Josh Johnson's attached memo and is based upon Section 408 of the 2023 model
ordinance. In the attachment, the amendments are shown in red.
At the same meeting, the City Council also approved a change in the WSW boundary based upon better
information. That review was conducted by Mr. Johnson and the attached map is included with his seal. We
have also included an amended GIS shapefile of the WSW for your review.
The Council voted 5-0 in favor of the ordinance changes on June 3, 2024. The boundary changes were
approved 5-0 in a vote after the ordinance changes were approved. City Clerk, Stephanie Shaw,has certified
that this vote was completed on June 3 as noted above.
We request that the DEQ approve both the changes in the WSW ordinance as well as the proposed changes
to the limits of the water supply watershed boundary. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
