Thank you for allowing the Catholic Conference Center the opportunity to respond to the Notice of
Violation dated May 10, 2024; received May 13, 2024. This response pertains to the (1) Fecal Coliform
daily maximum exceedance event that occurred during the March 2024 monitoring period.
On March 27, the plant experienced a fecal coliform exceedance of>2419.6 MPN/100 ml, exceeding the
daily maximum allowable limit of 400. An accumulation of solids in the chlorine contact chamber may
have contaminated the effluent at the time of sampling. The sample appeared to be clear at the time of
collection and the process control chlorine sample that was collected at the chlorine contact chamber
appeared to display adequate chlorination. As a corrective action, the chlorine contact chamber and the
digester were pumped out on May 17.
The fecal coliform reading was highly unusual and never before experienced. Here are the sample results
from the weeks before and after this event:
