Dear Mr. Wensman:
The Division of Energy, Mineral and Land Resources(DEMLR)reviewed and approved the Smithfield
Water Supply Watershed Protection Overlay section of the Unified Development Ordinance(Article 10,
Sec 10.92)received by our office on January 24, 2024. Smithfield Town Council approved the ordinance
January 23, 2024. DEMLR approves the ordinance in accordance with North Carolina General Statute
143-214.5 and North Carolina Administrative Code 15A NCAC 02B .0100, .0200, .0620-.0624.
