A . 4/3/2024 Project # 5364 Keystone Group Inc c/o: Scott Wallace 3708 Alliance Dr Greensboro, NC 27407 This report details the findings of a seasonally high-water table evaluation at Old Hollow Road, Whitehall Village South, Walkertown, North Carolina. Your office gave the location of the proposed storm water control measure(s) (SCM). James L. Beeson, Licensed Soil Scientist #1114, conducted the evaluation. The results were as follows: Seasonally High-Water Table Soil Borings Soil borings were conducted within the proposed devices on the attached map, and the depth to the seasonally high-water table (SHWT) was determined by observing soil indicators, also known as redoximorphic features. The elevations of the surface were taken from the map you provided. Findings: Soil boring locations are shown on the attached map. Boring ID SHWT SHWT Northing Easting Depth Elevation (inches) (feet) 1 >10ft Below 973 ft 881,778.41N 1,661,954.28E 2 60 in 966.5 ft 881,515.20N 1,662,850.03E 3 44 in 969.8 ft 881,621.68N 1,662,850.38E Conclusion: This determination is called a Seasonally High-Water Table determination which is very misleading. The term "table" suggests that the elevation of the saturated zone is flat. In the piedmont of North Carolina this is not correct. We are finding depth to layers that show evidence of 216 S. Swing Rd., Suite 1 Greensboro, NC 27409 336-662-5487 significant periods of saturation. Device #1 shows no evidence of saturation to a depth greater than 10 feet. Device #2 is in a different soil type that has an expansive clay layer that can trap and hold water and is therefore recognized as the seasonally high-water table elevation. The reason for the difference in elevation within device #2 is that the expansive clay is shallower at boring #3 than at boring #2. This is due primarily to the deposition of a sandy surface above the clay layer. Device #2 will have to observe the saturated zone at 969.8 ft or take measures to allow for an installation into the saturated zone.
