The Division has renewed General Permit NCG550000. A copy of the General Permit is
attached. You may begin using this version immediately. Please discard any old versions of
NCG550000 that you have.
Your existing Certificate of Coverage (CoC) does not have an expiration date. It remains accurate for
your facility, so no new paper documents are required.
If you have any questions, simply reply to this message.
PLEASE NOTE: as part of the Division's conversion to paperless communication, this email is the
only notification you will be sent regarding the CoC renewal. No hard copies will be mailed.

I am trying to find copies of the original approved plan for the sand
filter system involved with the subject permit. I have spoken with Ms.
Carter of the Winston Salem office and her records indicate that the
original work for this permit was done around 1979 and was handled in
Raleigh.
The first permit for your home was NC0042226, issued on 5/4/1978 to H. Brian Tucker.
That permit, along with several hundred others, was converted to a Certificate of
Coverage (CoC NCG550094) under General Permit NCG550000 in September 1993 .
I am trying to submit an ATC with the DWQ to add a chlorination &
dechlorination system to my property and as you can imagine, having the
details of the original construction would be helpful in preparing plans
for this work. Can you assist me with obtaining copies of the original
plans? I need to first determine if the original plans still exist and
your help here would be much appreciated.
When an Authorization to Construct permit is issued, the approved plans and
specifications are returned to the permittee [or his Authorized Representative, such
as a consulting engineer or engineering firm] . The approved originals will be used by
the installationpersonnel duringconstruction, and should be kept on-site bythe
P
permittee. The Division doesn't have the storage space to retain the thousands of
plans that have been approved.
The original plans and specs, whatever form they existed in, were returned to Mr.
Tucker years ago. We don't have them.
In a related question, the lady who I spoke with in Raleigh also indicated
to me that her files show that the original records for the subject permit
begin in 1993 and are associated with my name at that time. I find this a
bit confusing since I did not purchase the property until 1998 and did not
file application to have the permit transferred to my name until June of
2002 . (The prior owner, H. Brian Tucker, did not disclose the permit to me
at the time that I purchased the home from him) . If you can help shed
some light and clarify the record in this matter I would be grateful.
The permit database she was reviewing shows the current owner of the property [you] ,
but the screen also shows the first issuance date of the CoC, regardless of owner.
As I mentioned earlier, NCG500094 was issued as part of a mass conversion in 1993.
Whatever installation firm / engineering firm you hire to install chlorination &
dechlorination should be able to determine what's already installed. The systems
aren't terribly complex, with few components to identify. Personnel experienced in
working with such systems should have little difficulty.
