NCDEQ To Whom it may concern, Public Water Supply The UTZ Quality Foods facility performed the first storm water sampling and had a benchmark exceedance for COD and pH.The report is included with this letter. After investigating possible causes, it was determined the area around our trash compactor was not properly cleaned causing excessive run off of food waste.This was the most probable cause for the COD Exceedance.The plan is to clean the area immediately and the long-term plan is to add a concrete containment curb around the compactor. pH testing was performed off site and therefore caused the results to be in-valid.A pH meter was purchased, and all future testing will be performed on site. We will log all information into the SWPPP as directed by the Permit. Regards, David W. Certain parameters (chlorine, pH, dissolved oxygen, sulfite...)are required to be analyzed within 15 minutes of sampling. Usually, but not always, any field parameter analyzed at the laboratory is outside of this holding time. Refer to sample analysis time for confirmation of holding time compliance. The results are shown on the attached Report of Analysis(s). Results for solid matrices are reported on an as- received basis unless otherwise indicated.This report shall not be reproduced except in full and relates only to the samples included in this report.
