Dear Linda.
In response to your correspondence dated April 25, 2001, we offer the following:
• A chlorides test is provided. A USGS map is provided showing project site,
water sample location and mile radius.
• A Highlighted drainage area map is provided.
• A letter from the property owner is provided stating that Haven Hodges is an
authorized representative.
• The 36" flow leveler works simply as a road crossing of a low area. We do
not want to cutoff flow of stormwater to the natural low areas by simply
filling.
• The 60" CMP drains through an existing ditch east and under Market Street
and eventually makes it to Pages Creek. This drainage route is shown
clearly on the topography map included with the chlorides test location.
• Nearest major intersection is provided on vicinity map.
• Dimensions are provided for buildings, parking, sidewalks, drives, etc.
Please review for approval and contact us if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Dear Monica:
The chlorides testing option is very close to being reinterpreted. I've been told that technically, all of the old
directives were superseded by the rules in 1995. We are currently awaiting official verification of this. The review
status of projects that come in just before or immediately after the ruling is still being decided. At a minimum, you
will need the results of the chlorides test. It is possible that the chlorides test will not be accepted. In that event, you
will need to demonstrate that the project is at least 1/2 mile from SA waters (Pages Creek) and any unnamed
tributaries of SA waters. In order to do this, you will need a USGS map with the project and the receiving stream
or tributary shown, to scale.
Please provide a highlighted drainage area map, showing the overall drainage area to each pond.
The rules require that the owner sign the application, or an authorized representative. If Mr. Hodges is the
representative, please have the owner provide a signature authorization that includes the owners name, mailing
address and title, or have the owner sign the application.
How will the 36" flow leveler from the wetland work?"Fhe surrounding ground in that area is higher than the invert.
Please show all drainage ways on the plans.
What happens to the runoff from Outlet Structure 41 after it reaches the existing 60" CMP under Alexander Road?
Please show all drainage way on the plans.
Please add the nearest major intersection to the vicinity map, South College for example.
Please dimension the buildings, parking, drives, sidewalks, etc.

Stormwater Narrative
April 6, 2001
Re: North Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church
New Hanover County
TE 01017
The total site area of this project is 12.7 acres. Two buildings are proposed, a sanctuary
and a family life center, totaling 27,063 sf of impervious surface area. An asphalt and
stone access and parking area for both buildings will total 114,071 sf. Concrete
sidewalks total 6224 sf A complete 147,358 sf of impervious area brings the total built
upon area to 26.64% impervious.
Stormwater runoff will be handled by a wet detention pond designed to exceed the states
requirement of the first one inch of runoff. This pond will drain to Pages Creek with a
classification of SA. A vegetated filter is not required due to the 90% TSS removal used
in the wet detention design.
