Mr. Richard Carter was present for the inspection. You hold a General Permit to discharge domestic wastewater from your single-family residence under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES). You are found to be in compliance with General Permit No.NCG550086. In past inspections, the discharge pipe was unable to be located and, therefore, you were not able to collect samples for analysis by a laboratory. Recently,you discovered the pipe while installing a retaining wall and promptly repaired the pipe to its original location along the creek bank. The wastewater system was discharging during the inspection. Now that you have restored your discharge pipe and are able to observe the discharge,please refer to your permit for monitoring requirements, as discussed during the inspection. A list of laboratories certified to analyze samples taken from the pipe is attached to this letter. Please contact one of the labs so they can provide guidance and/or assistance in obtaining and submitting samples each year as required by your permit, beginning with the current calendar year. You may want to provide a copy of your permit to the lab to help them better assist you. Your wastewater treatment system appeared to be functioning properly. The discharge looked clear, and no negative impacts were observed to the creek. This office appreciates your vigilance in maintaining your treatment system.
