Avoidance and Minimization 1 a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project. Project impacts have been avoided and minimized throughout the design process. Rip rap impacts at Stream Site 1 are required due to the close proximity of the pedestrian trail to the existing rip rap-lined streambank. The culvert is being extended to allow for construct a five-lane roadway structure at the site. The minimum amount of rip rap has been designed at the outlet and inlet of culvert to provide long-stability. Rip rap bank stabilization at the outlet of the existing 36 inch pipe structure is necessary to provide Iong-term stability. 1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques. Side slopes have been reduced to 2:1 to reduce stream impacts. The contractor will review the site prior to and after pipe/roadway fill and will only use the minimum amount of rip rap necessary to stabilize disturbed stream banks. 2.
